Privacy Policy

This policy covers the Cliffpoint Abacus parent app and the parent account you sign in to. We teach children, so we hold information about children — here is what we hold, why, and how to remove it.

Last updated 8 August 2026.

In short

  • — Your child does not have an account. You do.
  • — We never sell or rent your data, and we run no advertising.
  • — You can delete your account from inside the app at any time.

Who we are

Cliffpoint Abacus Academy runs online abacus and mental-maths classes for children, taught live from India to families around the world. We are the data controller. Contact us at cliffpointabacusclasses@gmail.com.

Information we collect, and why

Each item exists because part of the service stops working without it.

Your name, email and phone number
To create your parent account, send class reminders and timetable changes, and answer you when you write to us.
Your child’s name and date of birth
To place them in the right batch for their age, to address them in class, and to put the right name on a certificate.
Your child’s school grade, city and country
To pitch the level correctly and to schedule classes in your own timezone rather than ours.
Attendance, class notes, test results and level
This is the record of the teaching you are paying for. It is what the dashboard shows you and what a certificate is issued against.
Messages you send us in the app
To answer your question, and to keep a record of what the academy told you and when.
A push notification token and your device timezone
To send a reminder before a class at the right local hour. The token identifies a device, not a person, and we delete it when you sign out or delete your account.

The app has no advertising, no analytics SDK, no third-party trackers and no payment collection. It does not read your contacts, photos, location or calendar. We do not ask for, and do not want, any information about a child beyond what is listed above.

Children’s data

Children do not hold accounts with us. A child never signs up and never signs in. The account belongs to a parent or guardian, who provides their child’s details at enrolment, and only a parent or guardian can see a child’s record.

What we learn about a child — attendance, scores, level — is recorded by their teacher and shown back to you. It is never shared with other families, published, or used to build a profile for any purpose other than teaching.

Where verifiable parental consent is required — under India’s DPDP Act 2023, the UK and EU GDPR, or COPPA in the United States — that consent is the enrolment, given by you. Withdraw it any time by writing to us or deleting your account.

Who else sees it

We never sell or rent your data, we have no advertising partners, and no other family can see your records. A few specialist providers process data strictly on our instructions, under contract:

Secure hosting and database
Stores your account and your child’s record, and handles sign-in.
Email delivery
Sends enrolment invitations, password resets and similar messages.
Push notification delivery
Delivers reminders to your device. This service sees the reminder and the device token, never your child’s record.

None may use your data for their own purposes. We will name any of them on request. Because we teach from India to families abroad, data may be processed outside your country; for the UK and EU those transfers rely on standard contractual clauses. We also disclose information where the law genuinely requires it.

Cookies and tracking

The app sets no advertising cookies, contains no analytics or tracking SDK, and does not track you across other apps or websites. It stores your sign-in token and your theme preference on your own device, and nothing else.

How long we keep it

Notifications in the app
Fifteen days, then they disappear on their own. What matters — a timetable change, a reply, a result — lives permanently in the schedule, in Messages and in Test Results.
Your child’s academic record
For as long as your child is enrolled, and afterwards as the academy’s record of the teaching it delivered and the certificates it issued.
Messages between you and the academy
Kept as a record of what was asked and what was answered, so that neither side has to rely on memory if there is ever a disagreement.
Push notification tokens
Until you sign out, uninstall, or delete your account.

Deleting your account

Delete your account yourself from the app’s menu. No email, no permission needed. It takes effect immediately and cannot be undone.

What is deleted, permanently:

  • — Your sign-in and your password. The account itself ceases to exist.
  • — Your notification history and your notification settings.
  • — Every push notification token registered to your devices.

What the academy keeps, and why:

  • Your child’s academic record — attendance, class notes, results, levels and certificates. This is the academy’s record of teaching delivered. It may also belong to another guardian of the same child, and one adult should not be able to erase a child’s school history alone.
  • Your message history with the academy, in staff records only. These threads are closed and no longer visible to any parent. We keep them so a question about what the academy was told, or promised, has a record.

To have the retained records removed too, write to cliffpointabacusclasses@gmail.com. Where no other guardian objects and we are not required to keep them, we will delete them.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you may ask us to show you what we hold about you and your child, correct it, delete it, or send it to you in a portable form. You may object to how we use it and withdraw consent. Write to cliffpointabacusclasses@gmail.com and we will respond within 30 days, free of charge.

In the UK or EU you may also complain to your national data protection authority — though we would rather you told us first.

Data storage and security

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, access is limited to the people who teach and run the academy, each signing in as themselves, and the database enforces at row level that a parent can only read their own family’s records. If a breach ever affects you, we will tell you what happened and what we are doing about it.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page and the date above. If a change is significant, we will tell you directly.
