    Early years

    Children meet numbers as beads: one five and four ones on each rod. A child who sees 9 as a five and a four is building the number bonds every curriculum here starts with.

  2. Ages 7 to 11

    Year 3 to Year 6 · Grade 2 to Grade 5 · Class 2 to Class 5

    Primary years

    Multiplication and division move from the rods into the mind. After about a year of steady practice most children start calculating on an imagined soroban.

    Times tables secure before upper primary, whether the school follows the English National Curriculum, an American curriculum or CBSE.

    Upper primary and the move to secondary

    Grades 5 to 6 · Years 6 to 7

    Fast multi-digit arithmetic for the non-calculator parts of school assessments and the standardised tests many UAE schools use.

    A steadier pace on timed tests, and confidence going into secondary school maths.

Families move between countries and curricula here more than almost anywhere. The soroban is the part of maths that travels unchanged: the same ten levels, wherever your child goes to school next.

Most UAE families start between ages 6 and 9. Older starters move through the first levels faster.

The parent portal

Quality over quantity is easy to say. We let you check it, class by class.

Every family gets a private parent portal. After most classes the instructor writes you a note about your child, and the attendance, the timed tests and the certificates sit beside it.

    Set 47 + 25 with no wrong moves, and used the index finger for the top bead without a reminder. Two minutes a day on “take five, add one” before Monday.

    A slow start, then the steadiest hand in the batch on the last round. Ask her to show you a sum on the beads tonight.

  4. A seat is offered

    After the class, by invitation. An invitation holds a seat for 14 days.

What time are classes for families in the UAE?

Gulf Standard Time, all year round. Weekday batches start in the late afternoon or early evening, once the school day is over, and there are Saturday and Sunday options. The batch we agree on the demo call keeps the same time every week.

What are the fees for abacus classes in the UAE?

Monthly, in dirhams, with no currency conversion on your card. That is two live classes a week, eight a month, and the exact fee arrives in writing with your demo time. The abacus and workbooks are a one-off purchase delivered in the UAE.

Will it fit my child's school curriculum?

Yes. Abacus training builds the mental arithmetic underneath every curriculum taught in the UAE: British, American, IB, and CBSE or ICSE. It strengthens number sense, times tables, and calculation speed rather than replacing schoolwork, so it complements whatever your child's school sets.

Do you teach families outside Dubai?

Yes. Classes are live online, so families across all seven emirates join the same small batches: Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Al Ain, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, and Umm Al Quwain.

What are the disadvantages of abacus?

It asks for about fifteen minutes of practice every day, and children who stop early lose much of the speed. It trains calculation, not geometry or word-problem reasoning, so it does not replace school maths. And the results take months, not weeks. If your family cannot protect that practice time right now, it is better to wait.

Curricula, timings and moving schools

Whatever your child's school follows
British, American, IB, CBSE, ICSE or the Ministry curriculum: each teaches arithmetic its own way and on its own timetable. Abacus sits underneath all of them, so it does not matter which one your child is on, or whether that changes.

Classes run in Gulf Standard Time, which never shifts for daylight saving, so a batch time stays put all year. Weekday batches start after school, and there are Saturday and Sunday options.
