Year 6 maths worksheets
Twenty problems with a full answer key. Year 6 in England is ages 10 to 11. The closest equivalents elsewhere are Class 6 in India and Grade 6 in the United States and much of the Gulf, both of which usually run about a year older, so check the topics below rather than the number.

What this year covers
- All four operations with larger numbers
- Order of operations, known as BODMAS or PEMDAS

- Long multiplication and long division
Curricula differ between England, India, Australia and the Gulf. This is the common ground rather than any one country's syllabus.

What to watch for
Order of operations arrives this year and causes more arguments at kitchen tables than any other topic. It is four jobs rather than six letters: brackets, then powers, then multiply and divide left to right, then add and subtract left to right.
More practice: the multiplication chart and every times table, the printable soroban worksheets, or the free virtual abacus. If your child is ready to move on, or you have another child at a different stage, browse all maths worksheets by year.
Common questions
What maths does Year 6 cover?
Year 6, for children aged 10 to 11, typically covers all four operations with larger numbers; order of operations, known as bodmas or pemdas; percentages, ratio and proportion; long multiplication and long division. Curricula differ between countries, so treat this as the common ground rather than a syllabus.
Is Year 6 the same as Class 6?
They are the closest equivalents, but the numbering does not line up exactly. Year 6 in England is ages 10 to 11, while Class 6 in India and Grade 6 in the United States usually run about a year older. The maths overlaps heavily, so this sheet suits either, but check the topics rather than the number.
Are these worksheets really free?
Yes. There is no sign-up, no email gate and no account. Print the page or save it as a PDF from your browser. The answer key is on the same page.
How often should my child practise?
Five to ten minutes a day beats one long session at the weekend. Number facts are stored through repeated quick recall, so little and often is what actually moves a child forward.
If the practice is not sticking
Worksheets show the gap. They do not close it.
A child who is calculating rather than recalling will get these right and stay slow. Our live online classes build the mental arithmetic underneath, in batches of ten. The demo class is free.
