Write the number, then write a zero after it. It is worth telling a child why this works: adding a zero shifts every digit one place to the left, into the tens column.
The fact children get wrong
Nothing, though children who have only learned the rule sometimes apply it to decimals incorrectly later on. Teaching it as a place-value shift rather than as adding a zero prevents that.

This is the clearest table on a soroban: multiplying by ten moves the whole number one rod to the left, and the child can watch it happen.
