Patterns in the 6 times table

  • When you multiply six by an even number, the answer ends in that same even digit. 6 x 2 is 12, 6 x 4 is 24, 6 x 6 is 36, 6 x 8 is 48.
  • Halve any answer and you land in the three times table, so the sixes come free once the threes are secure.

The easiest way to learn it

Take the three times table and double it. For 6 x 7, three sevens are 21, and doubling gives 42.
